Field trips are held on the last Saturday of each month, unless otherwise indicated. We schedule field trips during season, October-May, and also have field trips over the summer months.
Wear water shoes and bring a hat, insect repellant, sun tan lotion and drinking water. Hopefully these places will be high and dry - but who knows?
| Sleeping Turtles Preserve South (Koch) Mar 27th, 2010, 9:00am 2800 N. River Road, Venice Call Denny Girard, 474-1492, to confirm each trip and for directions or car pool information. We have visited here before and will "walk around the lake". We should see Penny Royal, Innocense, PawPaw and some other spring flowers blooming. Hopefully the wild pigs have not dug-up too much of the trail. For more information on the park click here. |
| Charlotte Flatwoods Environmental Park Apr 24th, 2010, 9:00am 15801 Tamiami Trail, Punta Gorda Call Denny Girard, 474-1492, to confirm each trip and for directions or car pool information. Seven new trails have been cut in this interesting area. We never know what we will see and these new trails will open different areas for us to explore. It is easy to get there and the parking area is just off Route 41. For more information on the park click here. |
| Stump Pass Beach State Park May 29th, 2010, 9:00am South end of Manasota Key, Englewood Call Denny Girard, 474-1492, to confirm each trip and for directions or car pool information. We try to walk here every year and we always discover some new plants that are not found in other local places. Being on an island we will see much "Caribbean type" vegetation, such as Jamaican Caper and Necklace Pod, along the waterside trail. There is a small parking fee.
