Regardless of where you live, we invite you to join us by becoming a member of the Mangrove Chapter of the Florida Native Plant Society. While our primary service area includes South Sarasota County and Charlotte County, residents of other counties and states are welcome to join us. The best benefit is knowing you are helping to protect Florida native plants and contributing to the long-term viability of our native plants and native plant communities. Our organization supports the science-based conservation of our floral heritage and of the wildlife species that depend on it.

Benefits of membership

Publications - As a member, you will receive our monthly Mangrove Chapter email newsletter, the Mangrove Messenger. You will also receive Sabal Minor, the State online bi-monthly newsletter that will keep you informed of FNPS news and activities, and the Palmetto, the beautiful State quarterly magazine that contains interesting articles about preservation and restoration of native plant habitats as well as profiles of spotlighted native species in each issue.

Meetings - At our meetings, you will find friends with similar interests who are excited to share their knowledge of plants native to Florida, and specifically native to Sarasota and Charlotte Counties. Joining Mangrove Chapter will give you the opportunity to serve on any of our committees, choosing one that matches your interests, as well as the chance to serve on our Board in an officer position.

Speakers – Enjoy guest presentations on your favorite topics by local and regional subject matter experts at our regular meetings. You will be able to let us know what is most important to you concerning our ongoing efforts to advance the recognition and preservation of native plant communities.

Field Trips – Once a month we explore one of the many local plant habitats, enjoying the company of others and sleuthing the identification of plants we encounter.

Making a difference – As a general member, a committee member, or an officer, you’ll know you are contributing to the long-term viability of Florida's native plants and native plant communities.
